Mandarin Pronunciation Learning Strategies of MFL Learners in Malaysia

Pronunciation is the fundamental step in learning a second language (L2) or foreign (FL). This crucial that cannot be excluded from process of L2 FL teaching and learning. Apart that, pronunciation not only an indicator to measure learners’ acquisition language, but also tool ensure effectiveness communication between speaker listener. However, instruction has been absent classrooms for long period, because it believed can learned by students. Consequently, learners have pick up on their own order achieve goal. The literature review showed large number existing studies revealed MFL utilized MPLS, however, MPLS non-native Mandarin Malaysia are previously unstudied. Thus, this quantitative study seeks explore strategies (MPLS) employed as (MFL) learner Malaysia. A questionnaire namely “Strategy Inventory Learning” was designed based taxonomies presented Oxford (1990); Peterson (2000) used main instrument study. 151 students Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Rembau campus who enrolled course were invited participate findings level use among at moderate which indicated opportunely aware while pronunciation.
